Juicer Recipes

Anyone have and good recipes for juicing?

Mudman August 11, 2011 01:27 PM

Had this today-
6 medium red apples
2 Granny Smith apples
a few kale leaves
a small red beet with tops
1 peach
2 carrots
Into the power juicer and there you go. My kids all drank a big glass too.

Mudman, what kind of juicer do you have?

Mudman August 11, 2011 02:54 PM

It is the Jack La Lannes Power Juicer Pro. I use to have a cheap one and you hardly got any juice and it was a bear to clean. This one is pretty simple to clean and very good at getting a lot of juice from things.

Thanks much...I will look into it.

I don't have a juicer, but I have a food emulsifier (it leaves the pulp in). My old standby is 4-6 leaves of kale or chard, an apple or two, a banana and if I have a few berries I toss them in also. When you use blueberries, it actually turns a muddy brown which isn't really too appetizing. Guess if you left out the chard/kale it would be more purple :)

When I was a kid, my aunt used to take a raw egg, orange juice, honey and wheatgerm and blend it up and drink it for breakfast. It was actually not that bad, but now you can't eat raw eggs....

I have a new Vitamix and I sure do like it, I make a smoothie everyday with it and I make other things as well. I made a smoothie this morning that I think is well worth repeating.

One medium raw tomato (whole)
1/4 cup frozen mango
1/4 cup frozen strawberries
1/4 cup frozen pineapple
1/2 cup raw baby spinach
1 cup water

Start your Vitamix on #1 variable and bring to high speed 10
Flip on the high speed and let her rip for about 30 seconds

This smoothie was very flavorful with a hint of the tomato still there and the sweetness of the fruit playing on it as well. Very good and it made about 32 ounces.

NOte: I added one medium carrot to the mix today and it was still very good.

Every litre has been consumed, about 400. Now just beginning the production for the 2013/2014 Season.

Listed is most of my effort of preserving produce for use during the 2012/2013 Winter season. A litre of various juices per day is about my typical consumption, often mixed in the drinking glass. My small attempt to avoid the commercial food supply, which I consider to be much flawed. Efforts are made to improve and add different foods with new inputs. Details are in my Garden Journal http://durgan.org/2011/

I throw a whole peeled orange ( from my orange tree) into my Vitamix. Add several heaping tablespoons plain nonfat yoghurt, some joint juice, ice, water and put it on high for about 30 seconds. Then I add some protein powder and gently pulse for a few seconds. This, with a couple handfuls of unsalted peanuts in the shell is my breakfast most mornings.

1 Attachment(s)
1/2 a lemon (peeled and cut in half)
1 medium garlic clove
1/4 to 1/2 of a medium jalapeno depending on the heat
2 sprigs of cilantro
1 large tomato (variety of your choosing)
1 large Fuji apple (quartered minus the core and seeds)
1 large orange (peeled and divided)
2 large carrots (cut in 1 in. pieces
2 stalks of celery (cut in 2 in pieces)
and don't forget the cranberries when in season (medium handful)

I also have a Jack LaLanne Power Juicer

Also you just have to experiment with the veggies and fruit you like and get the proper proportions.

If like the more leafy vegetables I would recommend a food processer/blender
and strain the results with strainer and large bowl.

Some other goodies are...
Beets
Kale
mangoes
strawberries
spinach
melons
and the list goes on and on
