Has anyone here grown Peron or Perfect Flame?
Perfect Flame (OP) sounds particularly interesting since it is a cross with Jaune Flammee.

Look at the history since it was described as somewhat of a miracle variety that was resistant to almost all diseases, I think not as grown by me out of sheer curiousity. I just checked my 2017 SSE Annual yearbook and there are just two persons who offer it and I know both of them very well. Both listed it as Peron Sprayless, which Tania noted in the link above. As grown by Al in OH and Bill in WI, neither one raved about it as they would have if it were a different variety. Then I checked Glenn Drowns Sandhill Preservation catalog and he listed it as Peron and said (Early,semi-determinate, very large,uniform red globe fruits, It was developed prior to 1954 by Professor Abelana Piovana of Argentina. Thanks, Carolyn. They both sound interesting enough to try. I'm quite a fan of Juane Flammee, so a cross with Peron at least seems like it could turn out very well.

I found Jaune Flammee extremely acidic /puke. Some say there is more than one version floating around, but I think that life's too short to waste on growing tomatoes with bad taste, even if they are disease-resistant ;) Linda |
I grew one peron sprayless this Summer. it is one of the few that actually had any tomatoes on it after we were hit with bacterial speck. it still has tomatoes on it and I actually thought it was afairly decent tomato tastewise. I wasn't expecting anything out of it.

I was given some seeds for Peron a couple of years ago and when I googled it, if my memory serves me correctly, it seemed like it would do better in a hot, arid climate compared to my humid, and often very short season in Montreal. I still have seeds if anyone wants.

Also anyone familiar with Rough d'Irak or Punta Banda? Also given to me by a TV member which are still in my seed drawer.

I don't know where I heard about different Jean Flammee versions, but you are right in assuming that it wasn`t here. My seeds came from a seed seller, so I would hope that they were true. Sharon, you just cannot beat Sungold ;) Linda |

Yes, I've grown both. Notice where Neil says tastes good,no praise from him, a long term SSE friend of mine,since the convention amongst my SSE friends about taste goes like this . Superb Excellent Very Good Good Fair I grow tomatoes primarily for taste,good yields help, but I can grow the same variety in two successive summers and get different results for those same varieties.
