First ripe ones here too
We had first ripe ones from outdoors grown Tumbler Hybrid and Sun Cherry last week and on Friday I found a ripe Stupice in the greenhouse. Last year I did not get anything ripening, so this feels great!
I have started to prune the plants hoping that it will force them to ripen the set fruits before our early fall arrives. People recommend here for major pruning of suckers and leaves and topping the plants, but I am a bit hesitant to do it so severely. |
Way to go svalli. I've had a few ripen but the mother load is still a couple weeks out. Looks like were going to have temperatures this week in the 30's so might get a few more varieties earlier. Got to spray my plants tomorrow as this off again on again rain is killing me. Ami

Region 4 Finally....
The first ripe tomatoes appeared in my garden August 1st. They appeared on my one and only Siberian hybrid. Jeez, I put that seedling out in April! Then again, we did have a record cold July in Wisconsin.

Svalli,
It is great, isn't it? I just ate my first tomato salad last night, yum! Remy |
We had great dinner tonight. The grilled file mignon was not so good, but first ripe Gregori's Altai and Azoychka saved the day.
Now I remember why everyone on TVille grows their own tomatoes! This must be the best time of the year. |
yep, I agree. Every day now something new is ready to taste ... the glory of summer!
