While separating red Mexican hard neck garlic for cooking I ran across a huge single clove about 1/2 the size of a golf ball.
Ran out to the garden and planted it.
As of yet, I have no idea if any of this red garlic will come up.
Time will tell.

Came home and before going in pulled all the little weed sprouts.
This will be an ongoing process until all the seeds stop sprouting.
Onions almost ready to transfer to another area.
Probably this weekend.

Transplanted some wee onion sprouts into a container, 'five in all; one in the middle and four around it.
Found two open places in the garlic container and planted two there.
Two more in the soil where the elephant garlic it growing.
Did more weeding in the garlic container.
Need to lay off the watering in the three big containers they dont need it til the top of the soil dries out more.
The Mexican red garlic is a lighter green and I dont now if it is due to type or needing more nitrogen.
The cabbage next to it looks fine.

Laying off the watering is a good idea for garlic, they can be stressed if there's too much. I had a garlic come up quite yellow last spring, which afterwards became a proper green. That was due to stress- very likely, too much water stress. :|
My garlic varieties all seem to have a similar shade of green, but I've seen leeks of different shades, and my shallot patch has multiple greens from almost a lime to green-blue. And I think TomNJ mentioned he has a garlic which is a different green than the other as well. So it's always possible that Mexican variety is just different. :)

Nope just the wee onion babies, the rest are doing fine.
As for the yellow garlic shoots I have no idea hard to keep it watered enough.
The grocery store green onions are growing like gang busters.

Why the name of the thread?????
I have been forgetting to explain the reason why.
As many of you know the word chronicle means to basically record an event or events and so on.
It can be a noun or a verb depending on the usage.
This is the reason for the dates on every post.

Early summer here and this growing season I bought seed from the UK of Mammoth Improved https://www.mammothonion.co.uk/cgi-bin/trolleyed_public.cgi?action=showprod_ONP1

Got two lots growing one in my tunnelhouse and the other outside, an impressive onion with leaves a metre tall. I planto use this onion as part of a cross breeding project.
