Down to my last Walmart bags
1 Attachment(s)
I'm really not looking forward to next year as this will be the last year I'll have enough 7 gallon blue Walmart bags, since they stopped selling those .50 reusable shopping bags that made a fantastic grow bag. So anyone know of a low cost grow bag? I really don't want to go bigger than 7 or smaller than 3 gallon since the area I have to grow in just doesn't have a lot of room, this pic shows the limited room I have. Any ideas on grow bags would be welcome. Yes for those wondering I do reuse the bags but 2yrs of use is about all the life I can get out of the Walmart bags. Thanks for any ideas on grow bags.

Great use for Walmart bags! I don't ever remember seeing these in our store. Aldi might have something similar but I'll have to check the next time I go.

Do you mean these bags?

What a great idea! Can't beat that price.

Try visiting larger trade shows/conventions in your area. The exhibitors many times have bags available for their giveaway stuff. May not be the sizes you want but they are always free with a little conversation... |
Root Pouches last a long time. I still have some of the brown (the best quality ones) from 2012. I then started buying the grey that last 3-4 years and I'm on year 4 wth some of them. In my hot/humid climate they get super gross though. When they wear out, it is my fault by grabbing them by the side vs the handles. I've even doubled up on 2 of the torn.
I did a few Walmart bags like you and would go to the Dollar Tree and get the laundry baskets to hold them upright. The Walmart bags lasted 2 seasons but the laundry basket was good for just one season. |
Many thanks to imp I went to the Walmart he recommended, the bags were indeed available that they told me would be discontinued last year. I picked up 20 bags so I'll be set for a while, and yes there still only .50 a bag.

Jetstar, I know Imp helped you out but I would like to recommend the place I get my bags from, 247garden.com.
The prices are great and the quality is pretty good. Also, for those in the Los Angeles area, their warehouse is 10 miles east of downtown and have a will-call option to save on shipping. |
Thanks shatbox nice site for grow bags and good prices... I'm set for now but I'll definitely give them a try in the future.

I dont use any bigger than 7 gallons; they get too heavy for me to move, but they have really sturdy handles and I havent broken one yet. They are cheap enough for me. |
Check your local Goodwill for bags, they have inventory that constantly rotates.

Does anyone know the volume of these bags?
