Sowed seeds

Sowed Thumbelina and Peppermint Stick in pots today. I hope mine are as pretty as those in this thread. I try to attract butterflies and pollinators.
Cole, I can't find a single hit for Zinnitia. Where did you get your seeds?
I found it!

Yep, I added an extra i in my misspelling of the name, my mistake.

That does it; going to start zinnia seeds this weekend!

Welcome to the Cool Kids Club! :)

I went completely off the rails today and planted too many containers of Thumbelina.

Lol, I had to go see what zinnia seeds I had on me and realized I’ve got nasturtiums I can plant, too.

Zinnias for sale

Even though I started seeds, I had to buy some plants....they were so pretty! If this doesn't make you want to grow zinnias , I don't know what will.

"Profusion" Double zinnias

Bought 3 pots of these. They look pink in the photo, but actually are a beautiful salmon color which I have not seen before. I just bought the plants from the nursery this morning and they are still in the nursery pots, yet they are sucking butterflies out of the sky.

PlainJane March 20, 2019 07:44 PM

Those are such a great color!

Interesting zinnia

These were called Swizzle. I didn't buy any because I have so many others.

Growing them for the first time. I have some nice zinnia seedlings in solo cups (one seedling per cup) and they're growing well. But what to do well? How many seedlings per container?

Labradors2 March 27, 2019 03:15 PM

Love those salmon zinnias! If I see any plants that colour, I will buy some. In the meantime, I've planted seeds for the lovely purple and "carousel" seeds that I received in the Cdn swap last year. They were SO pretty. I've also planted the "early wonder mix" that came in the swap this year so thanks to the donors :).

I think it would depend on the kind of zinnias you are growing. On the seed packet the instructions may tell you how much space to leave between the seedlings. For example, on the back of my packet of Thumbelina seeds it says to space them 10 inches. But I usually space flowers, especially annuals, closer together than the instructions say. That's just me.

Mine are planted but not up yet. The monarchs coming through the yard are yelling at me.
