Worth's 2019 Garden.

I have three tomato plants one pineapple one heirloom beefsteak and one Cherokee purple.

Herbs are True Thai basil and Genovese basil.
Have yet to plant dill and have bulbing fennel.
All have started to sprout.
Also have volunteer Ghost pepper plants sprouting.

Here is the question.
How easy is it to transplant basil and fennel seedlings?
I dont want the jungle I had one year.

I haven’t had any issues transplanting either one, whether from seed trays or from one part of the in-ground garden to another. I try to wait until near the end of the day, water well, and keep an eye for a couple of weeks.

Thanks, the seeds are impossibly small so I just scattered them in the containers.
The fennel is in a row about twice as close as it should be.
My hard tooth rake broke last weekend so it is in the repair shop.

Been a few years since I grew fennel (bronze fennel for pollen and seeds), but I started it indoors and planted it out with no problem.

Basil is always started indoors and then planted out. In my garden I've found it's happiest planted between my tomato plants vs out in the open on its own.

As the others have said, both are amenable to transplanting; basil is very accommodating, but try to be more careful with root disturbance of the bulbing fennel - I believe it may promote bolting.

Cold weather put a wee bit of a stall on seeds sprouting.

Fennel, i think is pretty cold tolerant like diil. I have had dill all winter long. I still have few left.
Basil is very cold sensitive. Mine are in the cold frame. Whenever you can safely plant out peppers, you can also plant basil.

Seeds sprouting in overdrive still haven't planted dill yet.
Tomatoes doing fine too.

Saved some seeds from o e of those sweet orange peppers everyone raves about.
Just scattered them on top of some planters right before a good rain.
We shall see if anything happens.
Lord knows I have plenty of ghost seeds sprouting with no help from me.

Some of the basil is starting to put on its second set of leaves.
Tomatoes plants exploding.
No fertilizer added to the container from last year.
If the heat goes back down I may have a wee bit of a chance for a tomato.

Worth, Is the orange sweet pepper a variety that is generally available through seed sources?

Thanks.

I have no idea they are mystery peppers from the grocery store.
I had one seed sprout so far.
They look like this.
