Brandy Boy at Home Depot!

Just got back from Home Depot and their seed display is out.

They had packs of Brandy Boy for $2.49. Must have been at least a dozen packs out on display. Got one and it has 30 seeds in the pack. Website has 35-count pack for $6.95, with add'l. $3.95 shipping.. Highway robbery:?!?:

Whatta deal! Now I can finally try this versus Brandywine Sudduth.:D

The only Big Beef seeds were from Ferry-Morse, and they were pelleted.
Avoiding this one per others' comments here about pelleted seed.

Yep, in the Burpee display. Brandy Boy was grouped under the regular/heirloom section, not the organic section of their seeds. Someone on an earlier thread mentioned having found them at either Lowe's or HD in prior years. I imagine they would go fast though.

I've been to at least 6 Home Depot's and Lowe's still have not found any in N Ga.

Thank you for your post, and the PM you sent of the availability.

It must be a regional display that carries Brandy Boy; I checked Walmart, Home Depot, and Menards (a midwest hardware chain.) No Brandy Boy on their rack in this area. In fact , to me it seems that they cut down on the number of tomatoes they carry this year and have a more equal selection for the other vegetables they carry. I remember when half of a rack used to be tomatoes - now its just two rows.

I have a few seeds left from a prior purchase online when it was a newer introduction. I only plan on growing 1 or 2 plants. Last year was the first in a long while I grew hybrids. None wowed me in flavor. To me they're more of a last hope if extreme disease comes along.

It'll be interesting to hear everyone's results of the side by side with BB/Big/Better Boy vs op's.

I have never seen Brandy Boy seeds at any local store in Texas.

Yes, they were in my Home Depot as well. Mind you this is just after I broke down and purchased a pack from Burpee for 6.95 plus shipping.

So, I bought some back up. I also looked for Big Beef, but as stated, only Ferry Morse had any and they were pelleted. Are the pelleted seeds only good for one season?

Consider Burpee's Steak Sandwich F1 too. A great tasting pink.

I saw this thread earlier, before visiting my local big orange box store this afternoon... Out of curiosity, I checked the Burpee display. Lo and behold, there were loads of Brandy Boy seeds, $2.49 each. I bought four packs, since I had a $10 coupon (making them free!!!).

I only need about a half-dozen seeds, so if any of you are interested in making a trade for some, drop me a PM. (I'll post the same offer on the available seeds page, out of fairness to those who aren't following this thread.)

I found Brandy Boy in my area's Home Depot also. Must have had at least 30 packs. I bought one and opened it. Has about 40 seeds in the package.
