I sympathize! I just did 12 each of 35 varieties of peppers for my husband since yesterday. Won't do tomatoes until April 1st so these Pepper Boys will be out in the greenhouse. I can't complain as I start 500+ tomato plants (Some are his 'tho!!!) And then I will also have gourds/pumpkins/squash at same time as tomato's and last, watermelon on May 1st. Last year I will have to start this many anything but promised my kid I would start them for him this year as he plans on doing the sun-dried tomato business and selling at market (He has a girlfirend who is "gung ho" but has never gardened so we "will see"...)

Hey...if we have a tomato "jones"...everbody else here has a tomato jones...communal suffering is the order of the day! Do you think that "normal" people would believe our addiction? I have a friend who just marvels at how many posts are on Tomatoville every day...in her words..."They are JUST tomatoes for cryng out loud".

Maybe you can rig the bathroom night light up with a grow bulb, so you can start a 44th variety ;-)

Put her on the sun dried tomato blacklist and see how long Ms. Smartypants lasts...

I planted 65 varieties but thankfully some did not germinate. Guess I better plant some more this week.

BB - you are NOT gardening, my friend, you are FARMING! Hope GF doesn't have the same shock my DH did when he signed onto being my first hand with the horses. He THOUGHT he knew about them based on his extensive Louis L'Amour & Zane Grey readings - oh my... did he ever get his feelings hurt....

huntoften - you KNOW you are going to sell out - there is still time to start just a few more.... just a few NAR, Andrew Rahart's Jumbo Red, Germaid Red, Juane Flamme... will send you seeds.... LOL, but seriously...

huntoften February 20, 2010 05:32 PM

NOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Well...maybe on the Juann Flamme :panic:

Shhhhhh...Don't tell my Dad! When people used to come to our cattle ranch they would tell my Dad how much they "liked his farm". My Dad would get indignant and say..."Do you see anything growing out there?" "IT'S A RANCH and I am not no dam ned farmer." Yeah...the GF walks on tiptoes when she is here because she does not want to get any cow poo on her white tennis shoes. She got mad when I would not let her ride a horse with tennis shoes (too easy for the foot to go through the stirrup...well you know that...) When I was preg checking cattle she had to leave the chute area because the site of my arm up the exterior orifice made her gag...I seriously have my doubts...
