[FONT=Times New Roman][SIZE=3]This year’s event will be held on May 4th from 1 to 4 pm at Paxton Ramsey Park on the East Side of Cincinnati. (See directions below)[/SIZE][/FONT]

[FONT=Times New Roman][SIZE=3]If you’re not familiar with the CHOPTAG Plant Swap, the theory is to bring your extra plants and give away more than you take home. :twisted: [/SIZE][/FONT]

[FONT=Times New Roman][SIZE=3]But if you don’t have any plants to trade you’re still invited. You can easily make up for the lack of plants by bringing food! Yes, CHOPTAGers have been known to have a morsel or two at our get-togethers. :dizzy: As we get closer to May 4th and you know what you’ll have extra, post a list here and people can get a sense of what will be available. People have been known to reserve plants so post early and post often. [/SIZE][/FONT]

[FONT=Times New Roman][SIZE=3]If you are coming from the North, Down I-75 or I-71 you’ll want to take I275 East to exit 54 (Wards Corner Rd). Using the CENTER lane turn LEFT off the exit. This will put you in the right hand lane on Wards Corner Rd. Turn RIGHT at the 1st street, Loveland-Miamiville Rd. Go about 7/10 of a mile and turn RIGHT on Price Rd. The park is at the top of the hill, about ½ mile, on the right.[/SIZE][/FONT]

I'm working on it.... but I won't have it finalized until February probably. It's so hard to decide when you have limited space and goals. When it's finished, I'll post here.

Jerry, we'll be there but right now we don't have any idea as to what we'll bring. So we're in same boat.

As soon as I figure out what I'm growing this year and what I'll have to share I'll post a list.

Have you sent out any emails yet as to the swap date and place? I recently joined a southwest Ohio group called CinciLocavore; they're about eating locally grown food. Do you remember Val and her dad Gordon? I think at the 2006 taste fest. Val's a moderator on the forum [at Yahoo]. Some of these folks may be interested in the plant swap. I'll post the Tomatoville link.

Hi, Jerry, Earl, SuTootaloo, and everyone else,
It was such fun meeting you guys and being overwhelmed by all the enthusiasm at the tastetest last fall. We are really looking forward to seeing you guys and swapping with you. While we were taking stock of our seeds we found that somehow we got away without any Berkely Tie-dye seeds, so here is a special request for anybody to please save us a plant if possible. Amy and I are going to post our list soon. We are growing 78 varieties.

We learned from our Bacterial spot fiasco last year the importance of sterilizing your seed when swapping. I posted an article I wrote with the help of a very good UK plant pathologist Kenny Seebold at [URL]http://tomatoville.com/showthread.php?p=72967&mode=linear#post72967[/URL] which is in We're Here for the Tomatoes/Starting from Seed/Seed Saving Problem. Amy and I have been doing fermentation in the fall, and bleach treating just before we plant, which will cover 99% of diseases. With seeds we have not saved ourselves or bought through catalogs, we are adding the third step of heat treating to prevent diseases which penetrate the seed coat, like Tobacco Mosaic Virus.

We have fired up our waterbeds in our greenhouse and have Oregon Spring up. We are shooting for May ripe tomatoes, outside! Wish us luck!

Here is a link to a UConn article that discusses heat treatment suggestions and trials with germination results. It seem at the temps and times they suggest you get about 20% loss of viability, but it could be worth it not to get TMV.

Have ya'll set a date for the tasting yet?? My husband's niece's wedding is on August 16th in Dayton. Depending on the time of the ceremony maybe we could slip on down to Cincinnati afterwards.

I'm not sure if I can make it. If so I should have a few plants to trade.
