Storage melon

3 Attachment(s)
Picked oct 1st or so. Sat on my counter out of direct sunlight and at room temp of average of 72 degrees. Ate it today. Taste was solid. I picked it before it could get overly sweet usually that's when the skin starts to get deep cracks or checks. I am not positive on variety but I will be saving seeds and will have some for trade.
I also have a piel de sapo I am waiting on until the new year. I am pretty excited about this, if I had to guess I would say the melon is ashkabhad.

Does anyone have a melon that they favor that has a long shelf life comparatively to other melons.... looking to try ore varieties

I "may" still have one or two varieties. I currently don't know, because I've been giving away most of my melon collection, as some of the seeds are starting to get a bit old.

I don't favor any of the winter storage types, as the ones I've tried have not had much flavor. This likely is because I generally get more rain later in the season, when these types are getting ripe. These melons need a long hot DRY season, which I rarely get.

I'll look for what seed I have left.

The only long keeper I currently have is Valencia Winter Melon. PM me a mailing address if you'd like seeds.
