Worth's Peppers and Tomatoes For 2016.
 

I'm going to put this thread here that way I wont have two threads going on the same thing .
My babies sprouted yesterday and so far they are doing fine.
I guess it is also as good a place as any to put up my list of what I am growing this year.
This list will be in no particular order but I will try to keep them segregated the best I can.
Here is the list.
Tomatoes.

Paul Robenson.
Indian Stripe.
Black Cheery,(Cherry tomato).
Emerald Evergreen.
Aunt Ruby's German Green.
Orange Russian 117.
Azoychka.
New Big Dwarf.
Neves Azorian Red.
Galina's, (yellow cheery type).
Riesentraube.
Here is what was sent to me by Container Ted out of the goodness of his heart while he had all of the other things going on.
Some I didn't plant so they aren't on the list.
These are the ones I planted.

Maidens Fire.
Kenai Mondo Green.
Looks like I have my share of greens and dwarfs this year.:yes:
Here are the Peppers.
The first two are what Ted sent me.
Aji Amarillo.
Peppa Dew.
I need to add New Mex Big Jim Lumbre,(meaning fire).

Here are the rest.
Jamaican Hot Yellow.
Jamaican Hot Red.
Red Mushroom.
Yellow Mushroom.
Bulgarian Carrot.
Habanero Red.
Lemon Drop AKA Aji Limon.
These peppers are ones I saved seeds from ripe or dried peppers I bought at the store.
Manzano, fresh fruit.
Fresno, fresh fruit.
Guajillo, dried fruit.
Chili Arbol, dried fruit.
Nome of the peppers have sprouted and I didn't expect them to this quick but I have no doubt they will.

Here is a pictuer of what is going on today, 12/13/2015.
No stretching yet with the new light setup.
You will notice I am doing nothing with the helmet heads most of the time they grow right out of it.

Looking good so far Worth. I've grown most of the tomatoes you list and some of the peppers you list. (Not familiar with the "mushroom" ones.)

Maiden's fire from Ted is one we'll be growing. Black Cherry from 2007 Tomato Growers is another.

I like your seed trays,were can I get some like that ?

Worth-Surprised you started so early. When do you expect to plant out?

While lookig for new lights and such for my seedlings Home Depot still had a little corner with seeds and such.
It is Christmas time and I have never seen this before.
Maybe it is because I chew them out this time of the year for not having something.:lol:
I found everything I needed to start seeds.
Jiffy organic seed starting soils and the Pro Hex seed trays.

I put in new lights and wasn't for sure my new experiment would work or not so I jumped the gun and started early encase of failure.
The other two reasons were my volunteer Orange Russian plant I had one year that did so well that sprouted in November.
This thing sprouted in a pile of soil about 6 inches deep at the edge on my concrete driveway.
What this driveway did was absorb heat during the day and kept the soil warm on top of it.

And AKMark starting seedlings in December in Alaska.
For Tomatoes and bloom set Texas and Alaska have about the same amount of time sort of.
I think I am only 18 or so days earlier than any other year i sprout seeds.
Perfect timing for peppers and early for tomatoes.
I will plant out as usual in early march and have back ups.
BIG back ups plus a plan.:lol:

So far no stretching the only problem I have is there are two chairs at the growing table.
Smoky the cat and I keep fighting over them. :lol:

Nice to see the babies Worth. There's nothing much I like better than seedlings sprouting

Funny you should ask Worth. I just brought in a seed tray to try them out. I found some wind damage from last night's storms when I was out getting the tray. There's a 3.5" branch twisted off and blew around 20' from the tree. I slept right through it.

Really nice varieties, Worth. Looks like a great start! Watch Smokey around
your pepper seedlings. Cats seem to find pepper plants tasty; tomatoes, not so much-thank goodness. Darlene

Talking about the variety, I like them a lot.
Four of those in Worth's list, happen to be in my list as well.
And I will try some of the others in the future. Like Paul Robson, NAR, Orange Russian.
