That Russian Tomato
 

Since the name reads too generic to the search engine within the site- I am looking for pictures and a description of this tomato for my garden tags. Anyone have info or pics I could add? Thank you!

Tatianna's Tomatobase has 29 varieties listed with the word Russian in the name and several more with the the Russian word for "Russian". None are "That Russian Tomato."

Where did your variety come from and who had the seeds if you grew it from seed. Maybe it was renamed because whoever sold it couldn't remember the real name.

Need more info about this variety to suggest an original name. Usually all tomato varieties with the word Russian in the name are renamed. People just dont know the real Russian names for such varieties.

Was it named Yanyas ny you?

Thanks everyone for your help. I believe I may have gotten it from Tormato, It only said That Russian Tomato. I remember there being some talk about it on here I just can't search it. Here is the info I have so far

That sounds like Ya Ne Znayu which means I don't know in Russian:D

Update- the seeds actually came from Carolyn's last offer via Farmer Shawn. Andrey , I think I saw you sent many seeds to her-does this sound like anything you recall? Did anyone else get these seeds from the offer and is anyone else growing them?

I've sent seeds of many Russian tomato varieties to Carolyn during 15 years so it's really difficult to identify. If you show me some pictures of this plant in the future hopefully I will try to regognize. Possibly you can see your old e-mail with Carolyn where you may discuss such variety and this will help you to find out which is That Russian tomato she mentioned.

I grew it from Carolyn offer couple years in a row. First tomato gnarly and large, rest are more beef or heart ish, good producer, midseason, I say pink, great taste.

Yes, these were from a Carolyn's offer several years ago, and was included in this winter's offer because I still have quite a few seeds. I am not the grower who saved the seeds for the original offer, and don't know who did grow it out, but I tried it and liked it well enough that it has become a staple in my garden. But I'm afraid I can't tell you any more about it than what has already been posted. Sorry!

And many thanks to Andrey who has patiently answered my questions about Siberian hearts and assisted with my learning.
