cross flavor

Hello everybody and thanks in advance.
I have several questions in my head about tomato crosses.
When two different varieties of tomato are crossed for the first time, does the descendant taste it? to the mother, to the father or a mixture of the two? I hope you have explained me well
Thank you
Nico

I mean the flavor of the tomato that precedes the crossing

Could be either, could be both, could be neither :)
And it can change from one generation to the next.
Starting out with two great tasting parents will increase your odds of great tasting progeny but doesn’t gaurantee it.
Also “great taste” to me may differ widely from what others experience .
Flavour is a combination of many factors including weather and growing conditions so all I can say is cross two you love and see what happens :)

Thank you very much Karen! perfect explanation.
I made a cross of two tomatoes that only knew the flavor of one of the tomatoes, it was at the beginning of the season in which I was experimenting.
I tried the tomato and it seemed incredible its flavor, the cross was an Italian tomato in the shape of a delicious pear (liguria) and joe's plum.

Grow out as many F2 as you have room for and make flavour a high priority in your selection. That will be best
Good luck!
Karen
