My Winter Greenhouse Greens
 

I cannot grow greens during my summer-way too hot. So in the fall, I plant and have greens until about the end of April. Right now is the best time for me-its cool, and humid in the greenhouse. Photos taken 1/9/10.

The first is Rosmary-I got seed from Italy, and finally was able to germinate-I have never been able to germinate Rosemary from seed before. The second is a cutting lettuce mix from Johnny's. The third is spinach, the fourth is wild rucola, the 5th is bok choy, 6th is chard and the last one is lacinato kale that I just germinated and put in the container recently.

Fresh greens in the winter - very nice! Looks like they feel right at home!

Duh:

They are-the temps range from 50 or so low to about 80 high.

They look beautiful. Which cutting mix is it? I was just looking at those last night in Johnny's catalog.

And suitable for lower light condition according to description - very nice, thanks for the link. Looks like would do rather well on the large window sill at home...

Michael, nice greens indeed. Using R.O. water on them? I think I just heard something in the back ground saying "Bring on the Tomatoes"! Ami

All my garden has ro water only. Surprising how cheap the unit was and it works great. You have to make sure you have calcium and micros in your feeding program because the water is so pure.

Michael, my greenhouse temps occasionally dip into the 90's. Is this too high for me to grow lettuce?

I dont think so-I am assuming you are growing during the fall/winter/early spring and you dont get sustained heat of 90? also, you can grow the greens in a part of the greenhouse that is shaded. In my photos, only the second photo is in the sunny part of the greenhouse-the others ones are grown in partial shade.

Page is bookmarked, on the list of "next to order". For now, I'm going through the seeds I have not used from last year, last 2 packs of "Cut and Come Again" from Renee's Garden. Just seeded few days ago, will see... Next round - definitely trying your suggested mix.

what is your mix from Renee's? Last time I grew from her seed, it was good, havent ordered from her for a long time.
