Now that our tomato seedlings have become plants, let us show some pictures ; in the containers, raised bed or in the garden.
For the starter , here are a few of mine. I started planting out as of 4/5/16 and almost got them all planted out in about 12 days time.

BETTER BOY, BIG BEEF , SILVERY FIR TREE and SEMI-LONG SHOT

Now show (off) yours. :cute:

Just curious, your raised beds are approximately how deep? I'm looking to have a couple made for me - I'm done with grow bags. And what are you using as your growing medium - 3-1-1 or the 5-1-1? Thanks, Sharon

Hi Sharon,
My raised beds are exactly 11" above the ground, filled to the rim.. But I have also loosened up the native soil underneath. And with the few last ones I have amended it before filling. But I have notice that tomato roots won't go any deeper than 12". The mostly spread out. Because the soil in the top 12" is rich and got the nutrients they need.

For the filling ? I just got what they call 3-way mix ( topsoil, compost , ?) Then I mixed in a lot of manure and pine bark mulch. 5-1-1 is to expensive for raised beds. and I don't think it is necessary. I pay about $25 per cu-yrd ( Ihaul it) I use 5-1-1 ( or 4-1-1) in containers. It costs me almost $4 per cubic feet.
You can get steer manure/compost @ HD for $1.50 per cu-ft to further amend what you put in initially. That is a good deal.

As usual, quite a bit of leaf miners, but the plants are setting fruit nicely.

I just went check the tomatoes from the 2" of rain we received this morning, they're still hanging around.:))

Jax & Rajun,

Those are great showings. You guys are about 2 months ahead of me. Thats nice.
Keep on growing !

We need more sharing folks, along with related questions and answers.

Sure hydro counts. Any growing method/medium : Greenhouse, hydro, name it.

Thanks Gardeneer. I'm guessing then no landscape fabric on the base of yours. My seedlings are about 3-4" high at this point, under the lights. There is no way I would or could push them out yet. It's still quite cold here - and we aren't past our LFD. Going to be a tricky season.
RG - nice tomatoes - I can only dream!!!

Part 1 The first picture is of WOW. The rest don't have labels on them yet. I'm hoping to get that done later today when it dries out from this morning's rains.

Sharon, You are right. No LF underneath. The native soil underneath is half decent.
Good luck with your upcoming plant out and be patient.

Robert, you are almost there to taste fresh tomatoes from the garden.
Are the blue ones Indigo Rose ?

They could be:

Amethyst Jewel
Purple Calabash
Blue Beauty
Indigo Cherry Drops
Chocolate Cherry
Indigo Blue Berries - Probably this one

I have them written out on an Excel spreadsheet and the garden just got rained on, but I'll know later today. I think the rain is about over. I took the pictures yesterday, but our DSL wouldn't load pictures - it was an area wide thing.

The picture is Indigo Cherry Drops above. The larger tomato is a Cherokee Purple

These pictures are

Indigo Blue Berries
Indigo Cherry Drops
Japanese Pink Cherry
Punta Banda - this plant looks like it will produce at least 100 tomatoes.

Robert - when did you plant out this year? Exceptionally early I'm guessing! Looking great!

These plants are 95 days, and under, from the day the seeds popped. The season has not been without a problem here and there, but we seem to be moving in the right direction. Some plants are producing very early beefsteaks. BW X Bloody Butcher F1 was the first ripe two years in a row, the f4 (A) is a few days behind those, and second, but some are a pound or more. The F4 (b's) are super heavy producers, super duper, few leaves, just amazing.
Anyway, here we go

Comfortably crowded. We have to use the space we have.

Dewayne
I started them January 17th as seeds. Planted out in mid-March. Both are too early for the DFW area. Except this year.

A few years back, I planted tomato transplants on May 3 because it froze on May 2.
