Best seed source

I am wondering where is the best place to buy heirloom tomato seeds with the main object being purity of the seeds in regard to variety . Am having trouble with purchased seeds not being true to variety description. Thanks in advance for any advice . cdg

I have used Tomato Growers Supply for many years.
Never ever had a problem.

I guess I would first ask which supplier(s) you are not happy with. A few are well known to the membership here as less reliable than others. And, there are some we feel we can depend on for proper products. Knowing this will allow us to better help you.

Thanks for responses . Mainly , the problems have occurred from purchases I made on ebay , and I do not remember all the usernames I purchased from . My plan is to purge all seeds not from major sources . I have heard TGS sold to new owners , and Sandhill is somewhat inconvenient (but I love what they are doing) . These are the two I will probably use unless someone has some better suggestions or reasons not to order from these . Thanks again for your time .

I have also had good success with seeds from Heritage Seed Market:

They have a big selection of some very unusual tomatoes, including a HUGE variety of dwarf and micro ones.

Use the big players who have been around for a long time and supply huge commercial operations. I don't know the USA ones but in the UK its kings seeds, Tozer, Moles seeds, CN seeds.

They are always true, well stored, sealed, labelled and dated well, tested and they get your order right first time.

Not a fan of escam when it comes to seeds, too may reports of ((not happy with it)) for me.
It is a great place to buy stuff and a great place to rip people off.

Many of the small houses like Heritage, Sample Seed Shop, Casey's Heirloom Tomatoes. Then larger houses like Pinetree Seeds, Johnnie's & Territorial. These are all good.

I have several hundred varieties of heirloom tomato seeds if you are looking for anything in particular. I save my own seeds each growing season. Most of mine are indeterminate varieties since they grow best for my season and climate. Can PM here or email me at nativegarden417@gmail.com. Happy gardening. No charge for the seeds. Just send me a SASE.

:)

Sample Seed Shop is by far my favorite.

Lots of good ones out there. Not mentioned yet is Secret seed cartel and Tatiana’s tomatobase.
There are A few to definitely avoid as well. Pm me and I can warn you away from a couple of the dishonest ones.

I have had seeds that germinated well plus good service from Fedco, Johnny's, Heritage Seeds, Pinetree and Victory Seeds.
