Sorry, just got too excited. But it has been busy. I picked 9 finally ripe tomatoes today. They are the Daiso japanese dollar store kind. For me it's a huge success. And they really taste great. I gave some to the neighbors. They knocked on my door, to tell me how great they were. Yes, I'm still smiling.
Aloha,
Tom

Florida Everglades showing promise. Big Cheef still the one. Next will be this wierd Brandywine IVO.
Because nobody can give me an answer what IVO is. Or where it is from.

They sell seeds at your local Daiso store? Ours don't here...wish they did. Good quality & quantity in those packets.

I bought them in Japan Daiso. We have 2 stores here, but haven't been there yet. Now , I have a good excuse to go.
Thanks & Aloha,
Tom

I buy from Daiso in Japan too but mainly lettuces, turnips and daikon. Tomatoes I will buy in HD type stores or online there.

If you're in Japan and like heirlooms, try noguchi seeds. I prefer them to kitazawaseed. Kitaza is easier if you're stateside though and or can't be bothered by customs.

I bought for cheap

Peebee,
I wish that I had Daikon. It was a 2 pkts for 100¥ so I grabbed beads , peas and edamomi. It's my disaster seeds. The wife is in Japan now. Let me know if your after certain seeds from Daiso. She will leave in the next few days. I will now add Daikon to my list. Haha she will not bring me beer anymore. It's my true exclusive delight. Mostly, the Akuagi.
Let me know. I wwill check tomorrow.
Aloha, Tom

I like the lettuce called Sanchu from Daiso so, you should try. It's a good romaine/leaf type.
No, I have to go to Japan myself soon but thanks for offering Tom.

University of Hawaii did grow trials on daikon, several were japanese heirlooms.

Another UofH study with more cultivars.

I have some Tokinashi if either you or peebee want to try.

I'd say 7/10 of things at daiso are hybrid. some variance expected if you save seed. Good hybrids though. The asian seed houses - know-you, sakata, tokita, etc... all do a great job.
