today is the first official day of the season downunder...at least in perth.

Always enjoy this tasty variety. Usually my 1st producer whilst waiting for the main act.

Lookin' great ! Love it when the season begins.....knowing you have daily news that lasts for so many months !

Of course, here in New Jersey.....it's kinda like DULL right now. Am SICK of eating tomatoes (almost like that year in New England, when nature gave us an unbelievable saturation of lobsters, to the point where we were able to buy unlimited live ones for $ 2.00/lb....after that year in the 90's, couldn't eat them again for YEARS !!). Well, 2008 was productive here......but not THAT incredible....

Am going out the door right NOW to finish cleaning out the dead plants in all the beds....

Great, Tessa! I have some little green fruit on my plants. Emphasis on LITTLE. But at least they are there. I shall be ready for a tomato when they are ripe enough to eat.
That's the lovely thing about growing your own. You stuff your face till you are ready for a looong break. Then you are ready to enjoy them again when they are in season. :)

yes...seasonal foods.
the size of our state, and modern transport methods...puts that concept to bed.
but in the home garden! yah!
there are two seasons in my garden. zuchinni, and potato.
LOL.
trying really hard for potato, and tomato.

i see another kimberley blushing today.
if i had known that plant was going to be so spindly...i'd have put three plants in that pot!

Mine are all planted out, except the Kimberly, which I put in pots. Flowers coming and they're still in the foam cups. A fave early for sure.

If you are the first with a outside down under tomato, i say well done,i`m a week away from an under plastic ripe Urbibany...well i think thats what it is... maybe.................?

i am usually so way behind everyone else!
this is because i take my annual leave the last week of july and i stay away until almost september.
this year...i popped all my seeds into cups and small pots, set them in a tray of water, and went away.
when i got back...only the strongest had survived...and i was a month ahead of myself.

two more kimberleys blushing now.
i really did love this one.

grub...i have planted GMG's all around my house.
i am SO DETERMINED to get one this year.
all i got was a sick one last year (bloody russett mites) from which i got enough seeds to carry me through to this year.
i'm happy to report....they're looking *great* so far!

Congrats on your first tomato Tessa. I spotted the first small fruit a few days ago, a Cherokee Purple. It really is very small, but a sign of hope that my season will begin soon too.

i wish the kiwis a great growing season too!
