Today's Little Bounty

Some Red Brandywine, Livingston's Favorite, Sophie's Choice and heaps of Kimberly. All reds.

Cherries include Sungold (dappled light spot and doing great and tasting wonderful there), Matts Wild, Broad Ripple Yellow Currant and Rose Quartz Multiflora that taste unreal even though red. Better than other red cherries I have grown before. It does seem like Reisentraube, which I can well understand the rave for if this is how they taste in my garden. And loaded.

gosh darnoodley, just discovered I can't upload straight from desktop. That would be ideal for me.

Getting late. But maybe that will do. I wonder how long they host the image for free for?

Goodnight :?

Grub,

Your 5:11 pic looks good to me???

nctomatoman January 30, 2006 10:08 AM

What do you think of Livingston's Favorite???

Grub January 30, 2006 04:27 PM

Taste of Livingston's Favorite

Ah, good question Craig. How does Livingston's Favorite taste?

The first one I had a week or so back wasn't quite ripe - a tad hasty at my end, I'm afraid - yet I could tell this was something worth coming back for.

At 7am this morning or one hour ago I ate a wonderfully red and ripe Livingston's Favorite and a perfectly ripe Red Brandywine (real deal ex-Carolyn ex-Mark Korney). And before I brushed my teeth, of course.

The taste of the two wasn't that distinguishable. Both had what I'd call a good robust tomatoey flavour. Livingston's F. is therefore an excellent tomato IMHO.

In repect of growth habit, the plant is huge, loaded with clusters of three to four tomatoes, and is not at all prone to disease.

I could imagine how Livingston's Favorite could be someone's maincrop tomato. I found there is nothing funky about its flavour, nothing untoward like say Paragon from Livingston.

My personal tasting notes might read: got a good tight balance leaning slightly more towards the acid end than Red Brandywine. Between Nepal and Red Brandyine in size and flavour and tartness. 7.5/10 (which is a good mainstream score.)

Will report back on your others in due course .Bagging some Green Giants at the moment. Nice cool day. Hope they set fruit.

Cheers, Grub :P

here's how it's done mantis!
The poor table had to be shorn up with cinder blocks.

Though in the end they are no more than a fading memory :?

Sure Does

Works like a charm. I remember that look of contentedness and pride from your post at the end of last season. Great harvest, Tom.

If you were to press the Img button above, then paste the url, then press the Img button again is should appear as an image not an address on this page.

I think :)[/img]

nctomatoman January 30, 2006 10:37 PM

The way I've done it is to copy and paste the web address into this box, highlight, then click the Img box above. You don't get the Img boxes in front of and after the pic that way (I think...then again, what do I know about this html stuff!)

Another trick is to change the size of the url address you are linking to, that way it won't cause everyone to scroll sideways in order to read a post.

Tomstrees was really not that long but I'll use it as an example
