Is Dester listed in 2012 SSE yearbook?

Just wondering, as i'm sending in my check for my yearly SSE membership tomorrow.

I did a search in the on-line version SSE yearbook and got no results.

My 2012 SSE Yearbook is out in the living room and I'm not going there now, I'm sure someone will take a look before I do.

Since there are many who don't list on the online version, those with no computers or those who just don't want to, I've found that the more complete lists of varieties to be in the paper version.

Talking to a few tomato friends who do the online it seems it's quite cumbersome b'c you have to contact SSE to get an e-mail contact for the person(s) you want to get seeds from. I have Joanne at SSE upload mine to the online but then I require that the official 2012 SSE request form be sent based on earlier experiences with just e-mail contacts via the paper version.

OK, I just lost the link but there's another thread here at Tville about Dester and one can get seeds from Larry himself, he who introduced the variety. Just do a search here at Tville using the word Dester or Destor, the former is correct, and you'll find that thread from Dec, 2011.

Nope, Dester is not listed with SSE at either source.

And if you need the older link:

Dester is not listed in the 2012 paper version in either the pink/purple or red section that I can see.

I don't think it's ever been listed - at least not according to the online yearbook.

Thanks for the replies. I may order them from Larry then.

Hi Douglas14,
Dester tomato is listed on SSE website under "seed collections"--heirloom tomatoes. you have to buy a package of 6 or so varieties to get it. It won't come up in the search. http://www.seedsavers.org/Details.aspx?itemNo=1565

Jennyann,
Yes, I was aware of that. It was tempting, but I'm not particularily interested in the other varieties in that collection. If I do decide to grow Dester, I'll likely get seeds from Larry. I should decide pretty soon. Thanks for the info. though:)

Jenny, I was remembering the same thing but then a neighbor stopped by and she only left a few minutes ago.

So yes, from the SSE catalog/website if you buy the whole collection and I don't think it would be possible for anyone to have grown them until this summer.

I don't know when Larry, who is the source of this variety, started selling seeds for Dester and how that dovetails with the 2012 SSE offering, but maybe Larry could let us know about that and whether he was selling seeds for Dester before the Tomato Tasting at SSE last summer and/or before the 2012 SSE catalog /website was selling seeds.
