Seedling with 4 !!! cotyledons ! (NEW PIC / PIC HEAVY)

Not only is my Mortgage Lifter
my "super seedling" by literally being
the strongest / vigorous of the bunch ;
but a now dormant seed has
sent up a friend that has 4
cotyledons !
I'm going to snap a pic when I get home ~
Is this one going to be an over-producer in
my mater patch ? lol ~ Tom

Tom,
Last year I also noticed that my MLs were real
"Bam Bam" types right out of the gate. Make
sure they get a prime sun spot as that was my
goof last year. Got some great maters, but too
few and the vines were underdeveloped....JJ61

John,

They will have the front spot in my patch for
sure - Its the mater the misses picked out ~

I took pictures ~ but they look like markferons
wall-o-waters under snow ~ lol ~
I'm going to wait until it gets bigger to
post a pic - weird though ~

I was reading on GW that 3-cots are rare ~
Now a 4-cot ?
They are going to start wondering whats going
on with the "water" in NJ ! LOL ~

lol ~

Tom,
They remind me of the little offspring seedlings
from the creature in the original movie "The Thing".

Hook them up to an I.V. of blood plasma and
they'll be Monster Maters come late July....JJ61

Tomstrees March 14, 2006 03:25 PM

lol ~ John ~

When it gets bigger ~
I'll take a better pic -
In the mean time I'm
gonna take real good care
of that one ~

I had one of my Micro Toms that was a "tri-cot" this year. I really didn't know anything about this until I was reading up on it on these tomato forums. I almost took a picture of it to post on here and ask about it but then didn't want to look stupid, lol  Anyway, I read most don't seem to be any better than just the regular ones but I am going to keep track of my tri-cot and see how it does compaired to the others.

SelfSufficient1 -

I just had to ask no matter how silly the
question ! The little seedling is getting bigger ~
And once its gets to be at a
better "picture stage" - I'll snap
another photo ; I'm def. going
to track the progress of this one -
save the seeds from the first fruit etc. ~
Its pretty cool looking though ~
Three I've heard of before -
but 4 ???!!! ~

Tom

Well I am going to keep track of mine and see if it preforms better or worse than the others but of course mine is a hybrid so no need to save seeds.
I took a picture of mine but would have to look up the directions for putting it on here again.

SelfSufficient1 ~

Cool pic ~ much better than my
markferon WOW in the snow pic ~ lol

My seedling has really taken off now;
I should be able to get a clear view
by Sunday ~

Tom

ps. save the seeds anyway ! who knows ~
could be a break through in tomato genetics ~

You'll never believe what I found this morning!

Glory of Moldova kind of pitiful looking. And that isn't all. If I can just get the other one to load I will show it to you.

Is it unusual to get three in one year like this?

Tomstrees March 16, 2006 12:30 PM

SelfSufficient1 ~

From what I've read (outside of Radish & Marigolds )
yes it is ~
Monitor these and see whats what next season ~
There is a thread @ GW about a fellow
gardener with a "Matchless Tri-Cot" ;
another guy is doing a study regarding this kind of
thing ~

Tom

SelfSufficient1 March 16, 2006 12:45 PM

Yes I believe I read that posting at GW last night but wanted to ask here too. I was really surprised to see those two this morning and then thought if it is that rare maybe they won't believe me  , lol. Can't get a better picture with my crappy camera  .
