Thanks!!!!!

I'm a spice weenie and have trouble with the Jalapeno's we grow. Wife loves them though. I picked up a pack of Habanada, a heat-less Habanero that I'm looking forward to testing out this year.

Otherwise, for me it's usually
Carolina Wonder bell
Some kind of Jalapeno
Some kind of Banana
Some kind of Rainbow/mix bell

Eventually I'll branch out and start some different varieties :p

GoDawgs January 3, 2019 02:13 PM

Sweets:
Alma Paprika
Feher Ozon paprika (comparing the two paprikas)
Gypsy
Jupiter
Keystone Resistant III

Warms:
Ancho Grande
Jalapeno M
Mucho Nacho jalapeno (comparing the two)
Big Jim

Not doing any Maule's Red Hot cayenne or Korean Dark Green this year as I picked and put up an overabundance this past summer

Is there a not hot Cherry Bomb?

PlainJane January 3, 2019 05:55 PM

For peppers I’ll be growing:
Biquinho (yellow)
Mad Hatter
Lemon Drop
Kashmiri Mirch
Peach Fantasy
Nocturne
Craig’s Grande Jalapeno

It’s hard to wrest space away from tomatoes.

Good list so far. Six weeks before I start any peppers. Are you throwing your hat in the ring and growing extra plants for sale again this year or was last year's experience enough? I'd like to scale it up and give that a try sometime, definitely not this year though.

Rajun Gardener January 3, 2019 07:53 PM

I'm not sure yet. I may grow extras to sell on Facebook, farmers markets and maybe mail order. I've had a few people from up north asking if I would mail plants but I'm not sure about the packing/shipping containers.

rhines81 January 3, 2019 08:25 PM

Deleted response RE: mail-order

Carry on

Goodloe January 5, 2019 05:52 PM

I'll be starting my pepper seeds next weekend!
My list for 2019 - so far...

Jalapeno, Cayenne, Rooster Spur, Biggie Chile,
Anaheim, Criolla de Cocina, Onza Rojo, Fish,
Peter Pepper, Hot Banana, Charleston Hot.

Haraldsdotter January 5, 2019 07:57 PM

It’s too early for me to start planting, but my list for this year is set
Aleppo
Big Jim’s legacy
Poblano
Pepperoncini
Slonovo Ulo
Corno di Toro
Dolce de Minervino
I’ll be starting these mid to late February this year, last year I started waaay too early and had monsters before the weather cooperated and let me plant out. Of course that means I’ll have an early spring that dumps directly to 90 degree summer in April

Man, I haven't even thought about it yet, and it's January already! So far I got:

Very Hot
Hot
Sweet

I got a ways to go. Thanks for reminding me Rajun lol.

Nan_PA_6b January 6, 2019 03:26 PM

I'm doing ajvarski (sweet) & Christmas pepper (hot).

PCMG, I loved the taste & texture of Doe Hill Yellow last year. If I'd gotten any kind of productivity, it would be my favorite every year. However, I bet it would have produced more if it had full sun.

This will be my first year growing Doe Hill, all reviews I've read have been good. Mine will be planted in full sun... Can't wait to try them.

Well good! Those must be some fresh Aji seeds you have there

Rajun Gardener January 15, 2019 05:52 PM

Very fresh, I think they started sprouting when the saw the potting mix. :tsee::insn::aprd:

pmcgrady January 15, 2019 06:32 PM

It's going to get down to 0 degrees this weekend and I'm looking out the window at 10 inches of snow... It will be awhile before I start any peppers. I think I'm going to try germinating some onion and leek seed soon.

Rajun Gardener January 15, 2019 06:40 PM

I feel your pain. The local weather guessers have been threatening 28 Monday morning but I don't see it happening, the next front looks like it's gonna be north of us.

I might have to start bringing in more plants. The struggle is real!:))

I was surprised when I saw in your list of paprika Hamik from the Czech company SEMO. I was in the mood today and bought the seeds. I have to try this pepper because of the declared sweetness of 11-12 ° Brix.
