I notice you plant several seeds in the same hole. Do you transplant them all, or just the best one?
|
Righand,
It looks like your off to another wonderful start. I can't wait to see your bucket system again. Aloha, Tom |
I just keep the best one in the cube and cut off the rest....cheers....

Nice.

For the newbie here, what are the cubes you are starting the seeds in? Can you briefly describe the process? Looks like a nice clean set up.
|
These are 3" rockwool cubes using a lot with hydroponics.....they are wonderful to use in doors compared to having dirt and bugs etc indoors....start the seeds in 1" cubes and insert them after rooting into the larger cubes.....cheers....
|
You use four buckets? I've done a two bucket set up; are the bottom three all reservoirs? What are you using for wicks?
|
I love the photos, thank you very much for sharing.

I got a great deal on used food grade buckets, two of the buckets are cut off short and are just used for spacers and a larger nutrient reservoir...just over 3 gals....the wicks are microfiber towels from Costco....cheers...

Righand, I was just musing about making taller planters out of five gallon buckets in order to plant some paste tomatoes very deep... TomzHawaii pointed me to this excellent thread. I don't see that you've posted in a good while so I don't know whether you're still around here.
Some questions for you if you are willing: How do you attach your insulation wrap around the buckets? And what is the white mulch/cover on top? [EDIT: I was able to see them more zoomed in in another thread and I see it's a fabric cover, possibly white-on-black fabric cloth.) Thanks, Ann |
