Thanks Carol:) .

Celtic,
She is correct. I had a lot of people waiting on my list being for sale because I had all the pics and descriptions up at that time. I would not start selling until all the germination tests were done. In fact, I had low germination(70-75%) on Cherokee Green seeds that by looking you would think were perfectly fine so I could not sell them. I decided to make them an extra bonus for anyone who wanted them(knowing about the low germination) since it was way more than I needed to save for growing again myself.

Sorry Remy, I got you and Tania mixed up. But the thought was right anyway.

Yup, I have several varieties with the same problem too. Processed the same way at roughly the same time as the varieties that germinated near perfect.

Oh well, there's always next year for those varieties.

Carol,
You should of never said anything! I didn't even notice:lol:.
I was just happy you responded since I was not home today to write a response.

Thanks,
I have noticed the same thing in seeds I collect. Every so often I get a batch with low germination. Interesting collection seed I order a few I never grown (good blurbs about each)

Yesterday I detoured from the Buffalo Airport to Remy's place of work - the now world / tomatoville famous Wegman's home of those great Tomato bags! - on my way home from St. Louis. We had been delayed since my travel companion's bag had not made it all the way to Buffalo from St. Louis.... (It stopped off to see the sights somewhere on route, presumably beautiful Detroit, or so we were told.) and amazingly, there was Remy on her day off, sitting on a bench out front, waiting for me still!!!!! Gotta love the service this gal provides! Got my order(again, thank you thank you thank you Remy-girl! You are a goddess!), had a great chat and caught up on the TV news, and then hit the road to the border and then home.

I'm hoping to start allot of those seeds in the next few days. Not sure where I'm going to plant them yet....hahaha. Need to find out that pretty soon, I should imagine.....duh!!!!

So that's now 2 beyond full service orders from the Goddess of The Sample Seed Shop! She's batting 1.000 so far....and I'd vote for all-star status!

Thanks Remy!!!!!

Zana,
You are much too kind!! You know I would come meet you any time. Hopefully next time it is longer, and we can do some shopping or lunch together.

Celtic,
I'm happy you liked the blurbs. A few friends have checked out the site and said it sounded like me and not a normal catalog. So I'm glad my "voice" is coming through.

oooooo, Cherokee Green seeds as a bonus! Perhaps I need to order VERY soon for next year, lol!;)

POAJoan July 27, 2010 01:27 PM

I just found this thread. What nice descriptions, so of course I had to order! I usually grow six or 700 seedlings to sell every year, most of them are preorders, so I like to offer new varieties. You have some very nice choices. Looking forward to growing them out next year. I am in zone five.

remy July 27, 2010 10:23 PM

Hi Joan,
Wow, you sell a lot of plants! Glad I could help add variety to your seedlings.
I'm surprised by zone 5. I thought Reno was much warmer.

She must be at a high elevation! Just got an e-mail saying my order shipped today, WOOHOO!!! Glad I'm not the only one ordering for next year... in JULY!!!

POAJoan July 28, 2010 12:02 AM

Thanks for the email Remy telling me my seeds were already shipped-WOW.
Yes, we are outside Reno at 5600 feet with nothing between us and the top of Peavine mountain where winds of 70-80 miles an hour are not uncommon and we have officially clocked 105. Believe me, the tomatoes that do survive are hardy. :-)

Shlacm,
You would be surprised how many people are thinking ahead. You must of been the order with all tomatoes. The Cherokee Greens are all gone, but I think I still sent you a green when ripe which is weird since I didn't know who ordered. I think I mentioned earlier that I like to play psychic seed bonus. Sometimes I'm right on the money.

Joan,
Wow, now it all makes sense. We get storms whipping through here because of the lake sometimes, and it can get up to 60-70mph a few times a year. I just can't imagine windier than that!
Remy

shlacm July 28, 2010 07:55 PM

Yup, all tomatoes, lol. Can't beat those prices!;)

mecktom July 28, 2010 09:03 PM

Interesting site. Will be placing an order soon.

shlacm July 29, 2010 12:40 PM

They're heeeeeeeeeere!!!:D Thanks Remy, love your handwriting... has "flair!"

POAJoan July 29, 2010 04:48 PM

WOW my seeds are already here! Thanks so much for the Bradley, I will try it in the greenhouse this winter (it's going to be finished, it's going to be finished is my new mantra). Now I get to enter them in my records since they are officially here. Thank you so much Joan:yes:

remy July 29, 2010 07:29 PM

Mecktom,
Thanks!

Shlacm,
I'm glad you like my handwriting. I won't let Gary write anything. He definitely doesn't have flair. I only let him do stamping.

Joan,
Of course it will be finished :).
I really like Bradley. I think it should be more well known.
Thanks again,
Remy

Ordered up some of my goodies today. Really wanted the Huge Black so if you get some of those in or just about any KY origin heirlooms later on I will definitely make another order.

Your prices are great and I don't know you yet as I am new here but I just want to tell you the main reason I ordered from you is that you are honest in your descriptions. I hate sites that every tomato is the greatest and best ever lol. I even ordered the one that you said has not done so well for you, just cause it is a Kentucky heirloom.

Thanks look forward to growing some tomatoes next year.

Yes, Remy is as honest they come in all ways, not just her variety descriptions.:)

While Remy did get her Huge Black seeds from someone in KY it's not a KY heirloom. It was first listed in the SSE YEarbook in 2001 by Ake, from Sweden, who lists many so called black varieties that he acquires from folks in Eastern Europe and more commonly the former USSR, now called the CIS.

I've grown Huge Black and it's what I call a pink Black such as Cherokee Purple, Indian Stripe and Black from Tula, as opposed to a red/black such as Black Krim. And you can take the Huge out of the name since it isn't.;)

For the last several years I've been offering it in my free seed offer here but since the seeds are from 2004 I don't think I'll be offering them again next year.

I'm sure Remy wouldn't mind my mentioning that if it's KY heirlooms you're after please look at the Seed Source title here of Blue Ribbon Seeds, owned by Maria, who is from KY and offers lots and lots of KY heirlooms off her e-bay site.

Thank Steven:). I try to describe as best I can what the tomato has done for me or how it tastes. Not every thing is going to be my favorite or do well here, but somewhere else it might be just what someone is looking for.
Carolyn is correct about Huge Black I didn't know any history (Thank for the info Carolyn!) though I do mention that is isn't too huge in its description. Spider/Bert who used to be a member here grew it and loved it down in KY. Bert was quite the gardener, and I still feel sad that he is gone.

Just got my seeds today, must say that was very fast. Think I ordered on Friday and I got them today on a Monday. Thats only 4 days. Thanks so much. Also wanted to mention that the seed counts even on the samples (thanks for sending that extra bonus KY heirloom) was very generous counts.

Will be looking forward to your 2011 update in the fall and doing business with you again.

franzb69 August 23, 2010 10:56 PM

hey remy, if you don't mind me asking. do you ship internationally? how much for shipping? I've got a lot of wishlist seeds that you've got there and I wanna buy some. Thanks.

remy August 24, 2010 10:08 AM

Stepheninky,
Thank you:).

Franzb69,
I do ship internationally, but I unfortunately can't ship to the Philippines:bummer:. Your country has very strict import rules. The seeds need a phytosanitary certificate no matter what kind of seed and an import permit is also required! http://www.medco.gov.ph/ciqs/quarantine-p.htm

uhm...it may look and sound strict... but it has never impeded my purchases. the only problems i get are that of slow shipping, due usually because of being a 3rd world country....people thinking they've hit the jackpot and stealing my packages, even if it's just a bunch of seeds.... or it just gets plain lost along the way.

i'm willing to risk it if you are. =D

i've bought, recieved and donated to and from a few countries already without much problems aside from the ones i've mentioned.
