Charleston Hot Pepper

A pot of Charleston Hot Peppers. At the yellow green stage now. Will turn to orange and then red. Extremely hot. Much hotter than a regular cayenne.
Makes great Cayenne pepper when allowed to dry at the red stage and ground.
Bred to be root knot nematode resistant. The foliage is always a pale green on this pepper.

Peppers

This is 24 inch tall green PVC coated wire in the garden section of Lowe's Home Improvement or Home Depot.

I measure the wire so that it will fit on the inside of the pot. I cut up against the square so that there is a tab to bend back to make a cage.

Thanks, I'll take a closer look. I need something better than a tomato stake for my peppers.

If you are speaking on mine no.

But I could have, the ones last year still had live roots when I tried to pull them.:(

I really like the look of those! Where can I get seeds?

Salsacharley July 2, 2018 09:41 AM

Are you going to be able to reach the peppers inside the cages? Your set up looks great and the peppers look great!

Pepper Seed
I really like the look of those! Where can I get seeds?
Hi Jon,
My seed source was Heavenly Seed - Anderson, South Carolina
http://www.heavenlyseed.net/products.asp?cat=17&pg=9
This is also my source for Choppee Okra.

I am sure I will be saving seed. PM me with your name and address and I will be glad to send you some.

I access most of them from the outside, but since it is only 2 feet tall I can reach in snare them if they are in the middle.

velikipop July 2, 2018 07:05 PM

Those look great, when do you start them from seed and when do they go outside?
