Fred,

You very kindly sent me seeds for Orange Caprese and Marzano Fire. Have not gotten ripe Marzanos but the Orange Caprese is excellent! First to put on fruit, super production and excellent taste. Thank you!

Agi Red F1 is kicking tail and taking names, the strongest by far of anything I have planted. Hybrid vigor for the win.

Fred Hempel May 17, 2020 01:33 AM

It is definitely vigorous. What I don't know yet is if it is particularly susceptible (or resistant) to any disease. Has performed well in previous years for us, but last year got some early blight. Let me know what you see on that front, if you have time.

And make sure to pick fruits when they are dead ripe. Otherwise they take a long time to ripen off the vine.

I am on the Agi Red wagon train as well. An unbelievably strong healthy plant. How tall does it get?
Thanks!

They have been 7 to 8 ft tall here the past couple years. At that point we top them. They are trellis breakers.

Dang it, Fred, you and your varieties that make giant plants. I am way too lazy to keep up with all that trellising work. My various Jazzes made 12' vines. Please cross everything with whatever makes Maglia Rosa such a bush.

I am working on determinates now. Don't have enough. I can keep you looped into those projects, now that I know.

Fred (and KarenO if you're reading this thread), the Taiga and Karma Purple varieties I purchased from Artisan germinated beautifully and I now have two plants of each growing away. Look forward to seeing how they taste!

You won't be disappointed!

Hi Fred,
The pepper seeds I got from you are germinating very quickly! Better than most of the others I'm starting this year. I am most interested in the Mareko Fana of all the peppers I am trying this year. It looks beautiful and should make some amazing powder I think. My Daughter's partner just cant get enough of the hot pepper powder I make and this should really knock his socks off! The Aleppo and Baby Aji Amarillo too. I'm not very good at growing peppers, especially here on this wet Island but I'm going to give it my best shot and at least great seeds are a good start. I'm Hoping the weather cooperates and we get some sun and heat for them
KarenO
