I would participate.

Count me in too. Whatever makes your job easier I'm up for.

Sounds like fun, I'll give it a try. Do I PM Tormato with a list of varieties I'm growing this year?

guruofgardens March 1, 2017 09:39 PM

I'm in. Just let us all know which one or two to save seeds from.

oakley March 2, 2017 04:14 AM

I'm guessing you mean October (ish) 2017 so a good yield and chosen variety by you
via pm, 50 packs of ten seeds, ....sounds like a good plan.
Especially if the focus is just one stellar plant/variety. The best of the best.

I only save seed from the best of the season. Usually just 50 or so seeds of each.
The only one i have 300+ seeds is HillbillyPL out of all my collection. I guess i'm a
hoarder of variety, not much quantity of each seed.

I missed out this past swap and was so sad I did - I'd be in for this Nifty Fifty swap - hopefully, some of the varieties I'm growing are in high enough demand! I'll be watching for details. Anything to help you out. I'm even planning on having my hubby buy some US stamps to Canada when he's down there next to make it easier. :D

Tormato March 2, 2017 03:08 PM

The Asian category is taken. One down, 49 (really 50) to go.

PM me at any time with the variety, or varieties, you'd like to pass muster.;)

Can I claim Paste, Gary?
I'm going to grow pretty much all paste in a farm this year. I have a lot of paste varieties you sent me , and I am also buying some, but that's mostly hybrids that don't count. How about I keep several OP varieties in mind, and evaluate their performance, then choose the best one at the end of the season to send in?

Your "suggestion" card would likely have several to choose from.

I may have another participant who also would likely want the paste category. So, a "paste" tomato may go into several other categories depending on color. And, there is still the Paste category (10 packs) in the other part of the swap.

Tormato March 2, 2017 05:13 PM

One of the 3 Black varieties is "reserved".

Since seeds are a long way from harvest, the slot is not yet taken. I figure by late August most things will be settled for the Nifty Fifty varieties. Depending on participants, or the lack thereof, any possible Nifty Fifty "sponsors"? Do you understand what I'm asking?
I'm in for the Nifty Fifty as long as you finalize the details early enough for me to save enough seeds from one of my varieties to qualify!
50 packs (5, or more, seeds per pack) of one variety. 250 + seeds needed to participate.

I have to OK the variety (secretly) via PM.

BettyC-5 March 2, 2017 06:16 PM

I'm in too.

Hollylasue March 2, 2017 06:24 PM

Ok so I'm new and have no clue what variety you would want so could I send a list of what I have for a particular category and you pick one?

habitat_gardener March 2, 2017 06:58 PM

Sounds like fun!

One advantage of sending in just one variety for this swap is that each person could prepare photos and extensive growing notes for that variety, on tomatoville and/or on Tatiana's tomatobase. (ha -- no pressure!)
