You are getting some great suggestions another is Spanish Flag or Mina lobata. A great plant for a screen that is VERY attractive to hummingbirds.

If you would like some seed, I have them.
I looked at the link you provided, and then this one https://www.google.com/search?q=mina+lobata&biw=1152&bih=553&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&sqi=2&ved=0ahUKEwiE75OQj7DLAhXD7B4KHeZ3AFsQ_AUIBigB

That is a beautiful plant. We have a lot of hummingbirds here. They playfully buzz by your head out in the gardens. It's kind eerie in a way, but it makes you feel good inside at the same time.

I'll be buying stamps Wednesday, and yes, I would like a few seeds if you can spare them.

Karen, I need to do some homework on clematis. I did look at an image link https://www.google.com/search?q=clematis&biw=1152&bih=553&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiv87GdkbDLAhUG6x4KHSsvA6UQ_AUIBygB

One word: WOW!

AlittleSalt March 7, 2016 10:41 PM

Sue, the same day I'm going to buy stamps (Wednesday) - I'll be looking for runner beans. I'll PM you if I don't find any - or maybe I'll find some you might be interested in?

Robert, I also like Cypress Vine, found seeds at Home Depot or Lowe's

Jackmanii Clematis is a fav. I bought a bare root at Wal-Mart around 2003, moved it once and still looks good.

My favorite climbing rose is 'New Dawn'. Bought a plant at Wal-Mart around 2006 and it is tough, to say the least. Disease resistant and smells great!

Check out Lady Banks Rose, it is almost thornless and beautiful. My aunt had one on a chain link fence and when it bloomed...wow!

I'm seconding the Lady Banks Rose suggestion as well! My Gram has some at her house in Oak Hill growing up a live oak and hanging from the branches and it is so pretty. Pom pom yellow flowers everywhere. :)

I need to get out and see the world more. Those are beautiful flowers.

This thread reminds me of the Addams Family where Morticia was always talking about her poison ivy and how well it was doing.

Worth, Morticia would be upset with us here. I have a zip lock bag of poison ivy/oak/sumac soothing creams and lotions. We all know the saying, " If it has five leaves - it's okay - 3 leaves - leave it alone!"

I did not find any runner beans today. I found and bought a pack of Asparagus Yard Long Beans. I've never seen them - much less grown any.

I found Clematis at Walmart.

I didn't get to buy any stamps today - I had to go home due to health reasons. Will try again tomorrow.

The yard longs will take over the place I planted some again this year.
A very fun and good eating bean.
If you eat the fried green beans at an Asian restaurant these may very well be what you have eaten.

I did some homework on Asparagus beans. This site gets straight to the point http://www.rareseeds.com/red-seeded-asparagus-bean/ "They grow well under almost any conditions–very resistant to heat, humidity and insects; great for the South."

I know "Flowers" but this Asparagus bean has me interested too :)

For some reason, I had to edit this post instead of starting a new reply - oh well, this works ... I looked up clematis https://www.google.com/search?q=clematis+flower&biw=1152&bih=553&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjZr4mhvLfLAhVIXh4KHQq-B7UQ_AUIBigB too. Beautiful

I could see it now, 20' tall bean plants with us out there on the SkyTrak lift picking away https://www.google.com/search?q=skytrak+lift&sa=X&biw=1152&bih=553&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&ved=0ahUKEwjn78mwybfLAhWGQiYKHQEdCy4QsAQITw&dpr=1.25

I'm not kidding, my runner beans have passed the 4 foot mark already.
The only thing that will stop the yard longs is if you get tired of watering them.

sdambr March 10, 2016 10:13 PM

Salt, I have a little package going out to you tomorrow.
