Biota Max - is it an organic pesticide? (a little confusing on this)

Rice farmers use once per planting.

John: I thought they were not to be used foliar, but obviously I was wrong. Thanks for the info.

mdvpc - I think it's both ways. Soil and roots when transplanting and then after in ground use as a spray.

What Chuck said to me in an email is that he wasn't publishing foliar apps this year. So that doesn't mean it cant be applied as a foliar.

One of the Bacteria in Biota Max that is interesting is Paenibacillus polymyxa. Quoting from Handbook Of Microbial Biofertilizers "P. polymyxa may possess a great variety of properties that are of interest in the development of biofertilizers. The reported properties include N2 fixation, P solubilization, and production of antibiotics, chitinase, and other hydrolytic enzymes, as well as enhancement of soil porosity". Hydrolytic enzymes aid in the formation of the symbiotic relationship formed by Mycorrhiza and the root structure of the plant. So it might be to our advantage to use Biota Max in con★★★★★★★★ with Mycorrhiza for soil applications. Ami

To a large extent, this is over my head. Do you see any issue if I now treated my tomato plants after Actinovate 3 weeks ago, with Biota Max now?

Bumping this up to see if anyone used the Biota Max

I used Biota Max twice this past season. On plant out mixed with Mycorrhiza soluable and Actinovate. Then half way through the growing season as a soil drench. I did not use as a foliar application as I am quite happy with Exel LG mixed with Actinovate and alternating with Azoxystrobin for foliar disease control.
Check out Raybo's thread below on his Goose Creek grow out with one container innoculated with Myco Grow and the other with Biota Max. Ami

I used it for my greenhouse tomatoes along with actinovate. And I used it on my lawn. Chuck told me that it works well with compost tea, so when I sprayed my lawn with compost tea, I used it. A little goes a long way. Recently, I put a tablet in my 65 gallon tank that is fed from my ro system, then waters the greenhouse tomatoes and veggies.

Chuck is a good guy, answers questions or inquiries fast.

Chuck does not recommend it for foliar at this time, is my understanding, although I obviously was foliaring (is that a word?) when I sprayed my lawn.

Looks like something I will try next year for sure. Do you guys know what the shelf life is for the tablets if they are unopened?

the shelf life is long-i got mine this year, and the expiration is end of 2012.

John-always hard to say if one thing makes the difference, but my plants are great-better than usual. This product was used to grow a world's record pumpkin this year.

This coming Season, I am going to blend Actinovate, Myco Grow, and Biota-Max together and do a soil drench about 2 weeks after I plant the tomatoes, then again about 6 weeks later. No scientific reason for this procedure, but I feel the double dose will be more effective.
