WOW, this are some gigantic tomatoes. Easily over a pound. What are you feeding them, KarenO?
|
These are out in my organic only community garden. Composted cattle manure from the university farm spread on in the fall and some bone and blood meal in the spring. This is in what is already a good natural but heavy clay-loam soil in that garden

KarenO, another word for the boreal forest is "taiga", if you're still looking for northern theme names.

I wish there was a "like" button somewhere... Karen your results are amazing!
|
I love this thread. Those are huge! I like Taiga, too, FWIW.:yes:

KarenO, your tomatoes are amazing. I am in Winnipeg and I planted my plants out around May 31. I just got my first ripe tomato today (a Sungold) and was feeling pretty proud of myself, but then I look at your tomatoes - WOW!!! I'm so envious, they look incredible!

Thank you! If they grow here, they would grow in "the Peg" too Kareno |

Seeing lots of segregation in the F3 of the midnight sun line. Especially on the colour. This one yet to be determined. Orange? Anyway, it's a nice big one 1 lb 6.5 oz 651 grams and I like the broad heart shape too.
Karen |
Wow what a massive beautiful heart.
|
That one looks wonderful too, KarenO! :D
If I understand correctly, it's the gf allele that is turning up here in Midnight Sun's F3? And giving tricolours as well as the original bicolour? What beautiful surprises. :roll::yes:8-) |

Yes that's right bower. Genetic roulette. I have a tricolour that has a lot of gold in it also. So far all have the pl, the heart to blunt heart shape and a clear epidermis but of the 12 plants, four have ripened fruit, two are the bicolour so far, the other two are tri colour but different, one with s lot more gold. It's sort of funny, I keep waiting for them to turn yellow and blush pink but that green gene keeps asserting itself. Adds to the flavour though maybe as they do taste tangy and richer than the bicolour. Seed saving will be interesting this year .

I think I see an alien (or for Farscape fans maybe Scorpius) in that front slice. :lol:
Beautiful tomatoes. If you need help from someone in Pennsylvania, I'll be glad to lend a hand... |
The slices are gorgeous!! :cute::love:
